Trio March 2026 Tour

Driving Suite Premiere in Geneva
Today, my latest work “Driving Suite” for big band, vibraphone and vocals will be premiered at the Les Athénéennes festival in Geneva. The composition, which was commissioned by the festival, deals with the theme of “Eros & Thanatos” in a suite of four parts. The two forces, which sometimes fight and sometimes embrace each other, are secret motors of thought and existence and are represented in four stages of life. Another concert will take place next week in Basel on june 17, 2025!

Human Intelligence Live Presse Quotes
"An electrifying live recording (...). An exhilarating, boundless performance!" * * * *
Mark Corroto, All About Jazz (US)
"Irniger is a traditionalist with a contemporary flair, trusting in the interactivity of his crack ensemble to elevate the music into rarefied terrain. The simultaneous excitement and sense of vulnerability produces a livewire vibe"
Peter Margasak, Down Beat (US) * * *
"This is an album to lose one’s self within. There’s new things to discover with each new listen."
Mike Greenblatt, The Aquarian (US)
"This is free music that makes internal sense readily accessible by even novice listeners. Compelling and authoritative, as well as measured and thoughtful, Irniger and his quintet produce a wholey organic brand of music that is real and not some abstract copy of itself or other’s music. There is no simulacra here, only the genuine article."
C. Michael Bailey, Wild Mercury Rhythm (US)
"An adept night’s work for an appreciative audience, Human Intelligence clearly shows what this group of pilgrims offer in a live setting."
Ken Waxman, Jazz Word (CA)
"Christoph Irniger’s Quintet returns with a groundbreaking live album!"
Jazz Chill Music (US)
Human Intelligence Live out now!
Very happy to announce the new release today by Pilgrim! The music on this album defies all things artificial. The album is a complete live concert performed by the band at Red Horn District in Bad Meinberg, Germany, in November 2023. The set is captured from beginning to end, with no changes in the running order of the songs and just a few minor edits made, but of course superbly mixed and mastered for you all!
